Koorrayn
Land Rehabilitation and Sustainable Farming
Koorrayn land rehabilitation is a central component of The Johanna Project, encompassing approximately 100 acres of farmland in Johanna, Victoria, near the Great Otway National Park.
The property provides an opportunity to demonstrate how agricultural land can be progressively restored through regenerative farming, native revegetation, improved land management and biodiversity conservation.
The Koorrayn project focuses on restoring the ecological health of the landscape while maintaining productive agricultural activities. This includes improving soil condition, protecting native vegetation, establishing wildlife habitat and implementing sustainable farming practices suited to the high-rainfall coastal environment.
Through carefully managed grazing, improved pasture management, strategic revegetation and ongoing environmental restoration, Koorrayn aims to demonstrate how productive farming and ecological conservation can operate together.
A central objective is to improve the long-term resilience of the land, supporting healthier soils, more diverse ecosystems and sustainable agricultural productivity.
Koorrayn also contributes to the wider vision of The Johanna Project, connecting land rehabilitation and regenerative agriculture with sustainable building, environmental education and responsible tourism.
The project is an evolving demonstration of how degraded or underperforming agricultural landscapes can be managed to improve both ecological outcomes and long-term land productivity.
